Together we work out where your business could grow or run more efficiently, then build what you don't have the time or tools for, alongside your team. From someone who co-founded New Foundation Farms, advised agri-food-tech startups including fieldmargin, and holds an MSc in agricultural technology with Distinction. 25 years in startups behind it.
Based in Wiltshire. I work across the South West, London and further afield, in person or remotely.
Businesses where farming, food or land meets a decision about growth, from around £1m turnover.
Farm businesses
Farms diversifying, or changing how they farm, that want a plan they can take to the bank and customers who will pay for what they produce.
Food and drink producers
Producers who want to explain where their food comes from and how it was grown, to buyers and to the public, and win more of the right customers.
Agtech and climate-tech companies
Companies selling technology to farmers and food businesses, who want sharper positioning, a stronger sales process or a board that understands the sector.
Estates and landowners
Estates weighing up what to do with their land and how to bring in new income, who want a plan before they commit.
Investors
Funds and individuals looking at an agtech company, who want an independent view on the business, the market and the people before they invest.
What I do for you
The same work, built around your sector
We work it out together, then I deliver the finished thing, not a report about it, and either stay to see it used or hand it over to your team.
Desk-based research we scope together: markets, competitors, the regulations and schemes that could affect you, and trends in the sector. UK public and official data first, every claim checked and sourced.
For example: what upcoming regulation and subsidy changes could mean for a farm or food business.
A growth plan, positioning and brand, pricing, and board, bank and investor presentations. Then extra marketing capacity alongside any team or agency you have: content written and scheduled with AI, free tools and guides that bring in enquiries, and pitch decks, case studies and tender answers.
For example: a business plan and bank presentation for a farm adding a new enterprise, a clear story about how your food is produced for trade buyers and your own website, or a guide for farmers that brings an agtech company enquiries from the right people.
Quoting and proposal tools, dashboards from the systems you already use, and AI agents that watch inboxes, pipelines and documents, then flag or act.
For example: if figures live in several spreadsheets, one dashboard that pulls them together; or an agent that reads new enquiries and drafts the reply.
A seat on your board, or a regular advisory role, for growing farm, food and agtech businesses, and independent diligence for investors in agtech. A typical engagement is a day a month plus board meetings.
For example: an independent review of an agtech company for an investor.
More on advising
Why trust me with it
I studied it, built in it and advised in it
I came to regenerative agriculture from technology startups. I studied it formally, co-founded a business in it, and advised companies working in it.
Study
MSc Agricultural Technology and Innovation, Royal Agricultural University. Distinction. Research on soil health, sensors, space technology and AI, measuring and reporting on farm outcomes, regenerative farming systems and how farms run several enterprises on the same land.
Dissertation: "Opportunities to accelerate the adoption of regenerative sustainable agriculture through blockchain-enabled technologies" (2022). It looked at how the latest advances in blockchain technology, in agri-food tech and the wider regenerative space, including DeFi, ReFi and DAOs (blockchain-based ways to lend, invest and make decisions together without a bank or a traditional company in the middle), could speed up the adoption of regenerative agriculture. It also covered the agri-food supply chain, traceability, food safety, provenance, biodiversity, carbon markets and how farm outcomes are measured and verified.
Regenerative Agriculture: Planning and Design, Ridgedale Permaculture.
Permaculture Design Certificate, The New School of Permaculture.
Roles
Co-founder and CTO/COO, then adviser, New Foundation Farms
AgTech Advisors (2022–2024). My advisory practice for agri-food-tech startups. In that time I worked with fieldmargin (later acquired by Agreena), Mona Dairy, DeepRoots and others.
Adviser, Agreed.Earth. Satellite analysis and AI to reduce nitrogen use on farmland.
Investor, Carbon13. A fund backing early-stage startups that reduce carbon.
Fellow, ZINC (2023–2025). Advised pre-seed startups on human and planetary health problems.
Outside agriculture: Chief Commercial Officer at Wercker (acquired by Oracle), Vice President at Notion Capital, and NED, adviser and investor in early-stage companies. The rest of my experience.
What my thesis found
What my research found
For the dissertation, completed in 2022, I reviewed the published research on blockchain in agriculture and interviewed experts across regenerative agriculture, blockchain innovation and investment. In short, as of 2022:
Food safety drives most uses today. Traceability, proving where food came from, is the most common use. The same supply chain data can also support better prices, open new markets and cut out middlemen.
Money for the transition is a central opportunity. A growing area of finance, known as regenerative finance or ReFi, is aligned with regenerative farming in both values and money. Much of it flows through voluntary carbon markets, which are closely linked to measuring and verifying what a farm achieves, and there is room for new markets in biodiversity, air quality and water.
Change needn't depend only on subsidy. Local decision-making and new ways to finance farms could help farmers and landowners raise capital with incentives that reward sustainable farming.
How it works
How we start
You deal with me throughout. My AI team of coding, research and analysis agents does the research, building and analysis; I direct it, check its work and sign everything off.
Your data stays yours: I use tools that don't train on your data.
A 30-minute conversationWhere you want the business to be, and what's in the way.
A working demo on your businessBuilt from your public information, usually within a week. You see the quality before you spend anything.
A fixed-scope projectA clear deliverable, a clear price, agreed up front.
Ongoing, if it's usefulMonthly support, a handover so your team owns and runs it, or a seat on your board as a non-executive director.
Talk to me
Tell me what you're trying to grow
Thirty minutes, no pitch deck. Tell me about the farm, the product or the company, and where you want it to be. If I can help, I'll show you what's possible. If I can't, I'll say so.
